WW1 British carrier homing pigeon permit to keep forty birds dated 1915 in good used condition. The permit is for a Tunbridge Wells address in Kent and is numbered 28 giving permission to keep forty pigeons at 117 Queens road Tunbridge Wells Kent with the name Charles again the surname is difficult to make out but can be seen in the photographs.
On the reverse side of the permit is the print showing Defence of the realm regulations 21 explaining the control of homing pigeons within the UK.Regulation 21 A was brought into place to remind the public of the important work homing pigeons where doing for the military and protected them from being shoot. The regulation also enabled the government to take control of who had homing pigeons and therefore permits were issued once approved by the local authorities.
