Description

German SA dagger and scabbard in good used condition. The dagger has a RZM mark M7/40/38 which is for Hartkopf & Co Solingen with a date of 1938 the markings can be clearly seen in the photographs. The dagger has non magnetic fittings with the pommel and cross guard and the same on the scabbard fitting top and bottom with the finish still in good condition and bright this can be seen in the photographs.The wooden handle shows good colour with two small stress fractures showing at the front these are very slight and do not affect the dagger in anyway, the SA roundel is still in place with the pommel fitting well with a little shrinkage on one side. The eagle and swastika have had a slight knock at some point in time with the swastika very slightly proud on one side but flush on the other side, this has been photographed and could easily be missed as it is very minor and does not affect the look of the dagger. The cross guard fits the wooden handle very well with little or no shrinkage, the cross guard has no Reichsgau or district mark this did happen and there are many reasons why this may be. The blade of the dagger still has a good percentage of cross grain showing alas with the usual scabbard scars which occur naturally with use the acid etched inscription a dark gray in colour, the blade does show signs of age which I have tried to show in the photographs but generally in good condition.
The scabbard has fittings top and bottom with most of its brown painted finish still intact a very nice example of a SA scabbard, the four screws on the scabbard have been removed and the screw heads clearly show this. The bulb on the bottom of the scabbard shows age with some very minor marks to it again this has been photographed. The dagger is a tight fit in the scabbard with the fit to the cross guard when in the scabbard being very good with a consistent fit, please see the photographs for further details.
