WW2 American pioneer (mountain troops) haversack and metal frame in good used condition. The haversack was developed from the Norwegian Bergan for pioneer troops and the 1st special service force. The haversack is maker marked for Avery with a date of 1943 the haversack is US marked on the front and has a large compartment with three outer compartments the haversack was designed to hold several days supplies for a GI in combat, the three external compartments have leather straps to close the canvas tops and do show age related wear to the leather finish the straps and buckles are still useable and supple. The haversack has a metal frame which makes it very comfortable to carry and it has a waist ebbing strap which has been cut down this could be repaired if required. The main canvas closing flap has a compartment on the inside with a zip to open the zip is in good working condition, the haversack has no holes it does have some age related wear showing on the webbing straps but nothing that would cause concern as a display item or used with care and all webbing straps and buckles are in place other then the waist strap.
