Description
WW2 British army/air map of Koln (Cologne) Germany in good used condition dated 1943. The map has a scale of 1:250,000 and is sheet K.51 and is a first edition the map is complete with good colour with the river Rhine running through the map from top to bottom. The map was part of a collection of maps used by army chaplain Captain C Mackonochie who I think served with the Canadian army as his map case was marked C.F after his name Canadian forces and was part of the Royal army chaplains department. In his original group of maps he marked his route from Normandy to Germany and the route marked on his maps was the route taken by Dempsey’s 2nd army group 1944/45. The research I have carried out suggests the 3rd Canadian infantry division was part of Dempsey’s 2nd army group this is as much as I can find out about the chaplain as his service record is protected by the Canadian government website unless you are a Canadian citizen then you can gain access. I have found other small bits of information such as his service number before becoming a Captain these small details will be included with the map to assist with further research should you wish to look into this further.
