Very rare 1888 Ptn Lee Metford MK 2 bayonet and leather scabbard in good used condition showing age. The bayonet has age related colour and is in as found condition it is Edward 7th marked which is rare with most being Victorian marked with a issue date of September 1902 the bayonet is maker marked for Enfield with the bend test mark and an inspection marks on the top of the blade. The pommel is marked 4 SA H 4th South African Horse this is clear to see with the numbers 830 just below it also has the Union of South Africa mark with the arrow inside the U on the pommel which has also been photographed, the wooden grips are in good condition with the two brass rivets clean. The blade of the bayonet shows age related colour and is in un-cleaned condition it also has the war department marking showing with EFD just below. The leather scabbard also has the war department arrow with EFD showing and above that is the Union of South Africa mark with the arrow inside the U, the leather scabbard is supple with its stitching in place it does have some very minor age related wear showing on the front with both metals fitting tight and in place.
