The 2nd pattern dagger was introduced in 1941 this is a 2nd pattern Fairbairn-Sykes commando dagger with the arrow B2 issued mark this has been photographed and the marking is as usual not the sharpest to see as the arrow is faint to see clearly. The dagger retains most of its blued finish with its hand ground blade also still showing most of its original finish and with some wear to the finish on the grip.
The scabbard is the original leather scabbard to the dagger with the chape fixed by a staple on the back and the leather tabs still in place with its elasticated retaining strap in place and working, the scabbard is in very good condition with its stitching in place and retaining its brown leather finish which is supple but firm and retaining its shape.
The blued finish to the dagger shows signs of use with age related wear and rubbing to the blued finish also with some light rubbing which can be seen in the photographs. The dagger has its original pommel nut in place on the handle and the hilt with all parts tight and with no signs of play. The dagger is 289 mm long with the blade 165 mm long and the weight of the dagger is 222 grams without the leather scabbard.
