The steel mess tins are both dated 1940.
Both items show age related wear and signs of use.

The shell dressing is marked for the war office and army medical department it is maker marked for Robinson & Sons Ltd Chesterfield with a date of September 1941, the shell dressing is complete with all its contents in place the thread keeping its closed has come away this can be seen in the photographs.
