Description

WW1 Trench map St Julien 28 N.W 2 in good used condition. The trench map was used during 3rd Ypres by Lt Frederick Victor Moore Royal garrison artillery. The map is a 3rd edition with the trenches corrected to the 9th September 1916 with the scale being 1:10,000, the map is the rarer type used with the German trenches having the names of the trenches showing on the map this can be seen in the photographs. The map shows age related wear and tear with signs of use and some age colour to the cloth back paper, the maps shows some very important areas such as Kitchener’s wood, Pilckem, Hampshire farm and Mouse trap farm. As I said this map came with other items from Frederick’s wartime items who fought in the 3rd Ypres battle and was later transferred to the Italian front in 1917. I do have a battle time dated map of the same area in my own collection and the details look to be the same which would explain why this 1916 map was used during a 1917 battle, a very rare map to find especially with the trench name details showing. Please see the photographs for further details.
