Description
German N.S.K.K dagger and scabbard in good used condition. The dagger has a makers mark for Christian Swerk Solingen with a acid etched symbol of a fork in a oval this has been photographed, the maker is a scarce maker to find it is right in the middle on the rarity scale. The dagger and scabbard are in good used condition the wooden handle has its eagle in place and SA roundel with both in good condition and original to the dagger, the wooden handle is crack free and with a very nice aged colour showing to the wood. The wood to metal fit on the nickle silver pommel and cross guard are good with some very minor shrinkage which can be seen in the pictures, the cross guard has the mark Nrh stamped into it which is for Niederrhein.
The blade of the dagger has its acid etched makers name and inscription clearly photographed so you can see the detail, the blade of the dagger has the usual scabbard scars with some signs of the crossgrain. The blade has been cleaned at some point in time which has removed most of the cross grain from the blade, the blade is bright and clean but with some signs of age showing in a few places which for its age is to be expected.
The scabbard for the dagger has retained most of its original painted finish with some slight signs of age showing on the finish which is at 90% remaining this can be seen in the photographs. The four screws retaining the nickel silver scabbard parts are in good condition and do not appear to have been worn on the heads, the scabbard is dent free other than the ball of the lower silver nickel fitting having opened on one side and it is a little pushed in, again this has been photographed.
