Description

Lee Metford 1888 mk1 type 2 bayonet and scabbard in good used condition correctly.The bayonet was issued in February 1897 it has the war department mark and arrow along with the bend test mark, the bayonet has the Victorian crown which can be seen in the photographs.The bayonet has many inspection marks which again have been photographed, the bayonet has no visible makers mark stamped into the bayonet.The bayonet has good clean blade with wooden grips that have good age related colour to the wood with signs of use and the bayonet is numbered 214 which corresponds with the number stamped into the top of the scabbard 214 this has been photographed .
The leather scabbard has marks showing along with the war department arrow and a makers mark for Enfield with the letters E.F.D, the leather is supple with its stitching in place with the numbers 214 stamped into the top of the scabbard.A very rare bayonet to find with matching numbers and in this type of condition is seldom seen,please see the photographs for further detail.UK sales only to customers over the age of eighteen only.
