Description
WW1 08 ptn webbing bayonet frog 2nd pattern in good used condition. The 2nd pattern webbing frog was the main type used through WW1 with the later economy version 3rd pattern not coming into service until the last year of the war 1918. The webbing frog does show age related wear and tear with the helve strap having a small repair each side of the strap, there is no glow from the thread but it is difficult to say when this was done. The webbing frog has the two rivets at the top with the halve strap measuring 5.5 inches the webbing shows signs of having been blancoed which has faded with age related use, the frog does have a mark on the back J Co with the last letter having faded to much to make out.The webbing frog is complete with age related wear and would be a fine display item. The webbing frog has no visible maker mark or date but can be dated to the type of pattern it is,please see the photographs for further details.
