Description
WW1 French artillery M15 Adrian steel helmet in good used condition. It has its multi construction brown and black leather liner in place with its chin strap c1916. The liner still has its tightening lace in place with its original leather chin strap.
The steel helmet is dent free the dark blue grey painted finish shows age related wear. It has its commemorative brass plaque fitted to the front peak of the helmet with the inscription Soldat de la Grande Guerre 1914-1918 soldier of the great war 1914-1918. The commemorative plaques were issued by the state of France from 16th April 1919.
On the inside of the helmet is a signature inscribed into the paint work, I can only assume this was done by the soldier who has the steel helmet issued to him. Further research may be possible.
Corrugated metal air vent strips are in place with the artillery badge at the front of the helmet showing age related wear.
