Description
WW1 Paper trench map and ordnance survey map sheet 51B in good used condition dated 1917. The trench map is a small scale map 1:10,000 and shows the area around Hansa and Delbar wood with the chemical works and Poulvain cemetery, the map covers six segments of the larger map so I am assuming the map was for activity in the area known as the second battle of Arras 9th April 1917 to the 16th May 1917 and could be linked to the action on the 28th April in 1917 when the 11th Suffolk launched their ill fated attack on the Chemical Works at Roeux, the trench map shown is dated 30/04/17, the fighting went on for several weeks and eventually taken by the 51st Highland Div on 16th May 1917.The cloth backed ordnance survey map is in good condition with the trench map being complete but in well used condition and showing signs of use, both are dated for April 1917. Please see the photographs for further details.
