Description
WW1 Paper trench map and ordnance survey map sheet 51B in good used condition dated 1917. The trench map is a small scale map 1:10,000 and shows the area around Hansa and Delbar wood with the chemical works and Poulvain cemetery.
It covers six segments of the larger map so I am assuming the map was for activity in the area known as the second battle of Arras 9th April 1917 to the 16th May 1917.
This could be linked to the action on the 28th April in 1917 when the 11th Suffolk launched their ill fated attack on the Chemical Works at Roeux.
It is dated 30/04/17.
The fighting went on for several weeks and eventually taken by the 51st Highland Division on 16th May 1917.
It is in good condition with the trench map being complete in well used condition with signs of use.
Both are dated for April 1917.
