Description
WW2 American M1 steel helmet and liner in good used condition. The steel helmet has a large S mark on the inside indicating it was made by Schlueter just near the heat number stamp which is 236A, the steel helmet has a front seam with the two spot weld marks showing on the inside for Schlueter, the bales are swivel and have been photographed. The steel helmet has been field re-painted this is a period re-paint which shows age related wear with a few small dents to the top of the helmet shell, these have been photographed. The steel helmet has its chin strap in place with the fittings having been photographed, the steel J hook has flat cut ends and the steel buckle have been photographed.
The fibre liner is named to Walter Winburn it is maker marked for International moulded plastics incorporated, the inside of the liner is missing its sweatband and some of the other webbing straps but it is original to the steel helmet and as found. The leather liner strap triangle holders have the re-enforced section for the strap to sit on, the outside of the liner has been period painted as well and shows age related wear to the painted finish in places, overall it is in good condition.
