WW2 German K98 bayonet and scabbard with matching numbers dated 1940 with its 1940 dated leather frog all in good used condition. The leather frog is clearly dated 1940 with a makers mark above the date, the leather frog shows signs of use with age related wear but is complete with no faults.The bayonet and scabbard are matching number examples with both marked for J Sch with the date 1940 showing on both the scabbard and bayonet. The bayonet has had a brass washer added to the grip which does show age, the bayonet has bakerlite grips with inspection stamps to the pommel which still retains its blued finish. The blade of the bayonet has 85% of its blued finish still showing, this has been photographed.
The scabbard has no dings or dents and is still showing a good percentage of its blued finish 75%, the bottom of the scabbard has a inspection stamp with the makers details and dated clearly showing on the back of the scabbard J Sch 1940 and on the front is the number 140C which matches the bayonet.Please see the photographs for further details of this rare to find example of a K98 bayonet and scabbard with its original frog.
