Description

WW2 American M1 steel helmet and liner in very good condition. The steel helmet has a large S mark on the inside indicating it was made by Schlueter just near the heat number stamp which is 506A so a late war production made steel helmet, the steel helmet has a rear seam with the two spot weld marks showing on the inside for Schlueter, the bales are swivel and have been photographed. The steel helmet has it’s original textured factory finish intact showing only storage wear, with its OD7 webbing chin strap in place and black painted metal J hook has flat cut ends and the steel buckle have been photographed. In picture number four you will notice the outer rim has a small ding, caused through storage and not use.
The fibre liner is maker marked for Capac manufacturing company, the inside of the liner is complete with its leather sweat band in place with all the webbing strap , the webbing strap is ink stamped S.M.C with a quartermaster number above this photograph is a little faint, the liner fittings are brass painted black. The liner has been period painted as well and shows age related wear to the painted finish in places, the liner is missing a neck strap I believe this is due to it never having been issued as it would have been given out when issued . A rare example to find in this condition and by the rarer maker Schlueter who only produced two million steel M1 steel helmets compared to the twenty million made by McCord.

Please see the photographs for further condition details.
