Description

German 1933-35 SA dagger and scabbard in good used condition. The dagger is maker marked for Axt und Hauerfabrik who is a rare maker to find and is rated at seven on the Mcsarr scale for rarity. The silver nickel pommel has a very good fit to the wooden handle with no shrinkage the nut has been removed at some point in time but I suggest a long time ago the pommel shows age related colour and is in un-cleaned condition. The SA roundel is a very good fit as is the eagle in the wooden handle and again showing age related colour, the wooden handle is damage free it does show the odd mark but no stress fractures. The nickel silver cross guard has age related colour and a good fit to the handle with just one side showing a very slight bit of shrinkage which can be seen in the photographs it also has a Gau mark for wf Westfalen.
The blade of the dagger has a good acid etched inscription which is still dark as is the makers mark, the blade fit to the cross guard again is very good and to the quality you would expect from a 1933-35 German dagger. The blade has the usual scabbard scars with some age related marks showing which can be seen in the photographs and it also has cross grain running the full length of the blade on both sides and again has been photographed for you to view.
The scabbard has its silver nickel fittings in place which show age and only one small ding on the side of the lower fitting,the screws all look to be intact and never having been removed. The scabbard finish is what you would expect with the with age related colour showing through the lacquere but still retaining a good percentage of the original finish, the scabbard has its original leather hanger in place which shows age and is still complete with the silver nickel clip being un-marked.Please see the photographs for further details.
