German 2nd pattern Luftwaffe dagger with portepee and hangers in very good used condition.The dagger is maker marked for Eickhorn with the on the shoulder stamped mark which is a rarer mark used by Eickhorn, the dagger also has the name of the original owner engraved into the cross guard W Tolsdorf this has not been researched but the name is a interesting one to look into and has been photographed. The pommel of the dagger retains its gilt finish to the swastikas with good detail and consistent age related colour to the rest of the dagger, the orange handle has its wire thread running from top to bottom and as it should be. The top of the handle has suffered a minor chip and a stress fracture caused by age and with the pommel being screwed to tight, this really is a minor detail but has been photographed and does not affect the overall appearance of this very good conditioned dagger. The lower part of the grip is damage free and has its knot in place the cross guard has consistent age colour to the pommel and also has the inscription mentioned. The blade of the dagger has cross grain running the full length with the usual scabbard scars which come with age, the blade is bright and clean with very minor age related colour showing a very close to mint example.
The scabbard has good consistent age related colour which can be clearly seen in the photographs, both screws are in place and the scabbard has good sharp detail with no dings other than some pin head size dark patches which have small indentation when you run your finger over them. The de-lux hangers are marked D.R.G.M with good crisp detail to the buckles and the clips, they do show signs of use with age related colour showing.
