Description
WW1 Lewis gun webbing ammunition pouch set in un-blancoed condition. The webbing set is all maker marked and dated 1918 for M.W.& S Martin Wright & Sons Ltd except one of the shoulder straps which is dated 1917 and maker marked for M.E.C which is the Mills Equipment Co,all the pouches have the war department arrow stamp. The set does have South African re-issue marks on all the pouches which is not unusual to see with such sets, they also have the alterations too the straps that took place in 1921.The webbing set of pouches was first introduced in 1917 to carry a total of eight Lewis gun magazines with the pouches and straps free from any major age related wear and tear, this is one of the best sets I have seen and would be hard to find better. Please see the photographs for further detail.
