Description

WW1 R.F.C Doxa pocketwatch c1916 in good working condition. The pocketwatch is the mark V 30 hour non luminous type and is a good example of this rare to find military pocketwatch. The movement is marked Swiss made and has Doxa also showing, it keeps good time over a twenty four hour period loosing a couple of minutes over that time period but this could be adjusted out if required as there is still adjustment showing on the movement, this can be seen in the photographs. The nickel case has been polished which can be clearly seen, the top and back of the case snap into place nicely and are a good tight fit. The back of the case has the air ministry mark used by the R.F.C from 1914 through to 1917, the dial of the watch is in good condition with one small chip on the edge between 10 and 11 and it has a small hairline in the zero of the 10, a eye glass may be required to see this. The hands of the watch are replacement hands but do fit in very well with the rest of the black and white detail on the dial, the shaft of the winder has had a ring fitted which is normal to find when in military service this would not have been in place.
As with all watches of this age I will bench test them to ensure good time keeping and that they are in good working order, the watch is sold as a collectible item not intended for everyday use.
Please see the photographs for further detail of this rare to find ww1 R.F.C pocketwatch which has had some light restoration but still a very good example.
